Update July 2010: Umai-Ya Damansara Perdana has ceased to trade under Umai-Ya business name and no longer accepting prepaid card issued by Umai-Ya itself. Please visit their other outlets at Uptown and IOI Boulevard. [Source]

Update 11/01/2009: Read about my subsequent visit @ Damansara Perdana outlet.

It all started with a nasty plan to make her cry, so we came out with proper arrangements, made pact with her room mate and her friends and finally decided on the venue.

We chose Umai-Ya. It offers Saturday buffet lunch for RM45+ and we thought it’d be great for a celebration. And after all, she fell in love with Japanese food recently.

Off we went, on that lovely Saturday afternoon, to Umai-Ya for a feast and a surprise.

We reached before her, seated in a private room which is cozy and comfortable to accommodate the eight of us.

The private room

She came, not knowing we were waiting for her, with her room mate and some of us came out and scared her. She was taken aback, and thought it was just purely coincidence. We led her to the private room, and the rest who were hiding in the room almost gave her heart attack. For once since her last birthday, her eyes almost immediately filled with tears. The tears we’ve been waiting for. We succeeded in our plan. Yes!

Touched

When everything was back in control, we sat back and started the feast.

Buffet menu

While the menu is not extensive, don’t be disappointed with it. The food quality here is top notch and made to perfection. On top of that, alcoholics can rejoice with free flow of Tiger beer apart from the usual Ocha (green tea).

And as usual, some obligatory food photos to make you salivate even more. :P

Again, the food selection here is limited although you can order ala carte from another menu. But still, I find Umai-Ya is way better than Saisaki. Probably the presentation is excellente and most importantly, PHOTOGRAPHY is allowed! Shame on you, Saisaki!!!

Having drunk a bit from my kiasu-ness of downing almost 2 glasses of beer, we proceeded to the cake cutting ceremony. LOL.

Cake from Bee’s Bakery with word “Otanjoubi Omedetou”

It wasn’t a bright idea to eat cakes in a buffet meal but we did it anyway. I even downed two slices!!

The total damage? RM414 for eight of us. Not bad what.

We even calculated the actual price from the ala carte menu.. and guess what… we ate like RM700-800 worth of Japanese food! Siao!!

Nothing more siao than the surprise we gave to Doris… right?

p/s – To Doris: Initially Kenny planned to come.. but couldn’t make it the very last minute. So, he sent you flowers lor. HAHAHA.
