HK/Macau Day 2 – Shop n’ Eat!

May 20, 08 at 11:02 pm

Read about Day 1 here.

Second day. Woke up around 7am and found out it was raining, albeit slight drizzle. A little while later, well to my surprise, the weather was cool and crisp.
Everyone looked tired and jaded because of lack of rest.

An hour later, we started the day’s plan with a breakfast at Mongkok Road, the Ocean Empire (海皇粥店). This wasn’t a random find. We actually targeted few eateries for our meals so this was one of them. Just glad that we found it.

And it was a perfect breakfast. Just nice. The congee tasted so smooth and rich. Jar leung was good. Aih.. everything also good, ok? 😛

My itinerary for Day 2 was a bit “loose”, meaning we might have extra time to do any unplanned activities.

While majority went for Disneyland, the four of us started our own little adventure.

It was still early, so we decided to take a stroll along the street – Nathan Road (弥敦道). Actually, it was to find few places that we intend to go later, Hang Heung Bakery and also the dinner place which both located along the street.

But, much to our disappointments, most of the shops were still closed even it was nearing 9:30am. Feeling frustrated, we decided to go to our targeted place, Snoopy’s World at New Town Plaza.

Getting there was a breeze. Just take MTR to Sha Tin (沙田) with interchange at Kowloon Tong (九龍塘) station.

It was drizzling when we were there and as Snoopy’s World is located outdoor, we did not really visited the place. Instead, we spent most of the time exploring the huge shopping mall.

Since time was aplenty, I went hunting for several stuffs for my colleagues and yes, I did manage to buy them. ^_^

The rain did stop for while, so we quickly took few photos at Snoopy’s World.

Don’t expect anything near Disneyland, okay. It’s just some oversized Snoopy and his friends. That’s it. 😛

We also managed to visit Honeymoon Dessert (滿記甜品) located in the shopping mall. Here’s what we had.

Our visit to New Town Plaza ended shortly after 12. It was time for another destination, Kwun Tong.

The train ride to Kwun Tong (觀塘) took about 20 minutes. From there, we walked to this Camelpaint Building for Nike Factory Outlet store. Yay!

I didn’t manage to buy anything as the shoes lacked of sizes, and overall the shop was so-so in terms of variety. But it’s cheap anyway. Yay!

It didn’t take long before we left the place for North Point (北角), again to hunt for more factory outlets. It was pretty easy to locate the place, thanks to the ever helpful maps provided by MTR.

Found Adidas Factory Outlet store, again did not buy anything as the shop looks pretty run down and disorganised. But the real gem was, I happened to stop by this Timberland store, and had my eyes fixed on a pair of shoes. I did not even think twice upon seeing the price and immediately I left the place feeling victorious. Yes, I finally made my first purchase. LOL!

It was pretty tiring walking around so it was time for late lunch. So, we took electric tram from North Point to somewhere near Wan Chai (湾仔) to have this famous polo bun and milk tea, Kam Fung Cafe (金凤茶餐厅).

By now, we have completed 3/4 of our journey, and we headed to Tsim Sha Shui (尖沙咀) for shopping.

Yah, I actually planned to get myself a watch – after my cousin sis told me it was pretty darn cheap.

Seiko Chronograph

It took us quite some time to actually locate the place – we even went up a building FULL of Africans. Yeww…

So, remember if you are heading there, do drop by this watch shop called Wah Hing Watch and Clock Co. It’s at Chung King Express located along Nathan Road.

Time was aplenty after our watch shopping, so we dropped our stuffs before heading to Sai Yeung Choi Street South (西洋菜南街) to sample this famous Yee Shun Milk Company.

The famous stuff at this shop is steamed milk with two films (驰名双皮炖奶).

Overall, the drinks were all but too milky, so I don’t really fancy it.

It was time to meet up with Disneyland gang for dinner, hence we took MTR to Yau Ma Tei (油麻地) as we already decided to have dinner at Temple Street. We had problems finding the right restaurants as they were packed with people. Nevertheless, we managed to settle down at a restaurant, and enjoyed our meals.

After dinner, we went back to Mongkok to continue our shopping. Before calling the day off, we managed to stop by Shek Mo Fong (石磨坊) for desserts to ensure we have sweet dreams when we sleep later. 🙂
