Finally get to taste the famous Ulu Yam loh mee after so long talking about it.
The four of us took off from Kepong on a sunny Sunday morning with a mission – eat.
On our way, we passed by the really beautiful Batu Dam. Thought of stopping by to take some pics, but the driver insisted the sunset view will be much better. Had no choice but to agree lor but deep down in our hearts, we knew we missed the beautiful moment liao. ^_^
We also passed by some hilly terrains before reaching the sleepy town of Ulu Yam. We were told that there are actually the new and old town and the famous loh mee is located at old town.
So we finally reached the place and began our food adventure.
Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome LOH MEE!!!! (This is so overly exaggerated.. Haha)
It was really an acquired taste when we took the first bite. Maybe it’s because of the differences in taste between the city and the local version.
I still find the city version is nicer. Hahaha. No offense ya…
Besides, we also ordered Hokkien Mee which tasted so-so.
After breakfast, we dropped by Memo’s house for a visit before heading out again for early lunch, which is Hock Lay Restaurant.
I must say that part of this visit is because of something which this restaurant offers.
Which is… DANG-DANG-DANG-DANG…….
Coconut prawn!!!
OMG so excited and happy with it!!
Too bad Memo is not a prawn fanatic or else he’ll be jumping around like a monkey.
Besides, Memo also ordered the black beer chicken wings which is wayyyy to delicious. Arghhh… I missed them so much now~~~
And also the fat and juicy bamboo clams cooked in kam heong style but the amount of the clams was too miserable to mention here..
Of course not forgetting to introduce the nice people from the trip lah..
Apparently Memo’s dad is a former triad boss, so don’t mess with him when you’re in town.
After the super heavy lunch, it was time to burn the calories. We had two options; waterfall or dam. We chose the latter as we knew the waterfall would be infested with … ehem.. you know who.
Driving to the dam (Not the Batu Dam) took about 20 minutes and it’s the same way which brings you to Fraser’s Hill as well. The weather didn’t look very good as rain clouds were scattered all over the sky.
On another note, this was my first visit to a dam (Yes, I’ve never been to any dam.. damn!!!).
The dam is very picturesque so of course we took the chance to take photos of the view.

Please don’t start the rumours lah
There is a building which houses the information about the dam and it’s pretty informative.
So we left for a Kuan Yin Temple which is located at Kuala Kubu Bharu. Memo told us of an interesting story about this temple. Go bug him to find out more.
The temple is quite run down and lack of maintenance but that didn’t deter us from exploring around.
We offered some prayers to the deities before we left.
We had early dinner at Batang Kali town to sample this exquisite dish recommended by CY.
We adjourned and left the place for Batu dam to catch the sunset but rain destroyed our hope.
The only thing we could do was to wait and hope there’ll be miracle.
There wasn’t miracle in the end but we found a newborn star in the making…
