NZ 2012 – Video Compilation

I thought it would be kind of waste not to make some videos along our journey in NZ so I actually got myself a tiny but powerful video camera – GoPro HD Hero. Armed with all the right accessories, I took quite a number of videos and here they are… some of them which I duly compiled for your viewing pleasure. All the videos are in full high-definition. Enjoy!

Part 1 – Journey from Christchurch to Tekapo. [Day 1 Story]

Part 2 – A view of Lake Tekapo, Church of Good Shepherd, Mount John Observatory and Astro Cafe. [Day 1 Story, Day 2 Story]

Part 3 – Journey from Pukaki to Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park with gorgeous view of turquoise Lake Pukaki and the jaw-dropping scenery along the way. [Day 2 Story]

Part 4 – Tramping, NZ style. Take a walk/hike at Hooker Valley Track, Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park. [Day 2 Story]

Part 5 – Journey continues towards Dunedin passing towns like Omarama and Oamaru. A closer view at the Victorian town, Oamaru before ending up at Moeraki Boulders for its unusual fossil rocks. [Day 3 Story]

Part 6 – Early morning drive from Dunedin to Otago Peninsula. [Day 4 Story]

Part 7 – The best of Otago Peninsula. A not-to-be missed tour by Natures Wonders who brings you around in an all-terrain utility vehicle. Witness the majestic scenery and get closer to nature with NZ fur seals and cormorants. Stop by Royal Albatross Centre to get a view of the highly endangered royal albatross. Otago Peninsula is not complete without a trip to Larnach Castle and its beautifully landscaped garden. Last but not least, a visit to Baldwin Street, the world’s steepest street. [Day 4 Story]

Part 8 – Milford Sound on a rainy day. Enjoy a cruise to witness the mythical Milford Sound and Fiordland National Park. A brief stopover at Mirror Lakes. The drive continues towards Queenstown, passing the scenic Lake Wakatipu along the way. [Day 6 Story]

Part 9 – Cruise on vintage TSS Earnslaw steamship along beautiful Lake Wakatipu. Feed the sheep, watch how the sheep are being herded and sheared at Walter Peak High Country Farm. Take an adrenaline ride with Shotover Jet and enjoy a beautiful evening atop Bob’s Peak. [Day 7 Story]

Part 10 – Visit NZ’s famous bungy jump, Kawarau Bridge Jump and the most scenic vineyard in Wanaka, Rippon Valley Vineyard. [Day 8 Story]

Part 11 – The journey isn’t complete without a glacier hike at Franz Josef. Watch the amazing glacier which stretches down from Southern Alps. Grab your crampons and watch as we tame the memorable glacier and bring home the precious piece of memory. [Day 10 Story]

Part 12 – Finale – A visit to the phenomenal Punakaiki Pancake Rocks and Blowholes. Looking like giant pancakes, the curious limestone formations are especially spectacular at high tide in a westerly sea. The journey continues towards Canterbury via Lewis Pass before spending a night at Hanmer Springs. The drive continued the following morning to join the rest for the once-in-a-lifetime experience seeing some larger than life sperm whales. Joining the cast are the extra playful dusky dolphin dancing in the water. [Day 11 Story, Day 12 Story, Day 13 Story]
