LDM Mutton BBQ @ Geylang, Singapore

Sep 9, 10 at 8:34 pm

I’m hungry now and my comrades are all still busy with their business, so while waiting why not write something interesting which I tried not too long ago.

~*~*~*~

I’m sure everyone is quite aware where is Geylang and why it is so famous in Singapore. Well, apart from being a “red light district”, this place offers some interesting food as well.

Geylang is actually famous for its frog porridge, which I actually tried the other day, but there is another place which is worth mentioning here, LDM (刘大吗) Mutton BBQ. This small establishment located by the main road is basically a skewer shop where charcoal grill is provided at each metal table for a more personal bbq-ing experience.

Pick your food from the ever extensive menu and choose if you want the meat raw or cooked. We chose the latter in order to save time grilling them.

LDM Food

We ordered a plate of Japanese cucumber as appetizer and it turned out to be a wise choice. Great finger food!

Foon Lock Restaurant @ Kg Bukit Tinggi, Bentong, Pahang

Sep 7, 10 at 12:22 am

Phew, I admit I really neglected this blog for a very long time. I’d like to blame it on my recent business travels but then it’s really a bad excuse for myself. Anyway, I’m back for good now.. well sort of with a couple of dizziness which I’m still suffering and hope it’ll go off very soon.

I’m going to write about this particular restaurant which I went as far as 3 months’ back. I don’t know why, but this small, quaint village of Bukit Tinggi has become my favourite place for stopover whenever I’m traveling to the east coast or even the notorious gambling haven.

So we were at Foon Lock the other day for dinner and it was packed to the max. The boss was ever in his usual jovial, friendly mood and even recommended some of the specialties to us which we gleefully accepted – probably we were too tired to even think what we want to eat.

We kind of fell in love with this simple, stuffed tofu. The minced meat was marinated and mixed with chopped spring onion before being stuffed into the tofu skin. It was really good.

Awesome Homemade Ice-Cream @ Kedai Kopi Kow Po, Bentong

Jul 12, 10 at 12:15 am

While making our way back from Taman Negara, I actually drove to Bentong for its famous homemade ice-cream shop, Kow Po. I have heard of this for so long but never had chance to try it so when opportunity came knocking, there’s no second thought.

Now, the funny thing is, I was with my 4 other friends, none of them actually knew about this.

Driving in Bentong town is not that hard. Assisted by my trusty GPS-enabled phone and also the locality of the shop which is just beside the main road, we made it at first attempt. :/

Kek Lok Si Temple Octagonal Pavilion

Jul 9, 10 at 1:02 am

During my visit to Penang last month, we drove up to Kek Lok Si temple for a closer look at its new octagonal pavilion. The 20-storey high pavilion, built to shelter the Goddess of Mercy (Kuan Yin) bronze statue, sits atop the hill and can be seen as far as from Gurney, the place I stayed throughout my trip.

Taman Negara Getaway (4)

Jul 4, 10 at 11:14 pm

There were so many people waiting in line and we were not excluded. But alas, after an hour or so, our group was called up and we duly lined up for it. And soon, we were up walking in the middle of the jungle. The canopy walkway is 10 metres high, so it was an enjoyable walk and to be able to see more of the rainforest from high up was an awesome experience.

I couldn’t recall much about the canopy walk because it happened too fast or maybe I was busy taking photos. So, let the photos do the talking.

Day 2.

We woke up rather late by travel standards, and since breakfast is provided at the hotel itself, we duly prepared for the day’s activities before heading out.

Breakfast at hotel was nice and after that, we took the pickup truck provided by the hotel and made our way back to LBK to begin our activities. Again, with the same group of people we met the previous night and we waited patiently for the boat to come and pick us up.
