We were definitely having a great holiday so far! Starting from the minute we touched down until Day 7, we have been enjoying our limited stay in NZ. With all the activities that we had so far, we did not realize that our trip is coming to an end soon. We just wanted to enjoy the moment as much as we could!

Our Day 8 started at Queenstown, and we drove leisurely towards Arrowtown, located about 20 minutes drive away.

Day 6
Te Anau – Milford Sound – Queenstown

I was sort of looking forward to Day 6 because of Milford Sound. I’ve read so many exciting stories about the place prior to the trip and now, everything will be fully unveiled in front of my own eyes. I couldn’t even sleep properly the night before as I kept thinking about the place.

But first, I had to get over the slight disappointment when I found out that it was still raining when I woke up the following day. Feeling helpless about the weather, we packed our bags before checking out from the hostel.

It was still dark when we hit the road. Coupled with rain, our designated driver took the road with extra attention.

I couldn’t recall much what happened during the journey as I dozed off halfway. Somehow when I woke up, the skies have brighten up but the rain still did not even budge a bit. However, with brighter skies now, we could see much more – with mountains on both sides of the road, but they were no ordinary mountains. Hundreds of waterfalls were lining up the walls of those mountains. The scene was so gorgeous that we even stopped by the roadside to get better view. Thanks for the persistent rain, otherwise we wouldn’t able to witness such jaw-dropping scenery.

After two great days in Dunedin, it was time to pack our bags and continue our journey. After checking out from YHA, we drove south towards Balclutha.

We stumbled upon another scenic stop on the way and decided to take a quick detour. Lake Waihola was shrouded in mist that morning but still breathtaking in its own way. We only managed to stay for few minutes as it was very cold.

NZ 2012 – Day 1 – Christchurch to Tekapo

I’m sorry I left you too soon. You are so beautiful and marvellous. I’ve posted countless photos of you and they say you look simply irresistible. They say you’re impossible to be that beautiful in nature’s way. I defended you deeply, for I’ve seen you with my own eyes, and therefore, you’re real for sure. Oh, my NZ~!

What were you thinking???? 😀

First day in NZ was pretty fuss-free. It was a cloudy day but the temperature was just nice. After getting our supplies, we took to the road and began driving towards south. Needless to say, the drive was amazing, we were rewarded with fantastic view of the plains. As we rolled further away from the city, we could see more sheep and cows feeding on the grasslands.

It didn’t take long before we made our first unscheduled pitstop, at Rakaia. I guess we were attracted by a giant salmon replica standing proudly by the main road. Rakaia is actually the salmon capital of New Zealand. There is a cafe right opposite the replica, but we had to move on as we have spent a lot of time in Christchurch earlier.

Hello From NZ!

Mar 13, 12 at 7:32 pm

It has been 5 days since our arrival at New Zealand and so far everything rocks! Life has never been so spectacular and here I am, enjoying every single moment as much as I can!

We have been enduring the crazy 4 seasons in a day weather but we loved every second of it.

Here are some photos taken with my phone. They’re just too lovely. 🙂

On a sidenote, Air Asia X has confirmed that KL-Christchurch will be terminated by end of May. This is really bad news. 🙁

That’s all, folks. Hope the coming days will be fun as well. 🙂
