When in HK, we always emphasize on having breakfast. We are so spoilt with choices – dim sum, congee, noodles, etc but on this morning, we unanimously picked congee to start the day.

Mui Kei Congee 妹記生滾粥品, an established name proudly serving delicious congee to serve the folks in Mongkok was our choice that day. A brief 10 minutes walk away from our hotel, Mui Kee is located on the top floor of a Fa Yuen wet market where you can also find other variation of food stalls as well.

We started with a small serving of poached fish skin 魚皮. I was a bit skeptical looking at it but after eating it, I have to agree it was good! Never thought poached fish skin could be so crunchy.

Our third day itinerary was to visit The Peak which is located on the island side. For the sake of convenience, I brought them to this particular shop in Sheung Wan called Law Fu Kee Congee and Noodle Specialist.

Our tummies were already growling so we quickly put down some orders – lean pork with century eggs congee, fish slice congee, wan tan noodles and dumpling noodles. We also ordered a plate of boiled choy sum as well.

All the stuffs were great. Smooth congee, bouncy noodles and crunchy greens made a great morning.

Apologies if the above photos lacked of quality – I had to fend off their hungry hands who were just as quick as me as they were not willing to wait further. Hence, I had to employ all-in-one tactic to save time.

If you happen to be there, remember to order deep fried fish ball with clam sauce as well. We did not try as we were not aware in the first place.

Bear with me for posting such a short article but stay tuned for the next article. Thanks!
