HK/Macau in Summary

Nov 19, 10 at 12:43 am

Heelloo peeps, I’m back from my 3rd trip to HK and my 2nd trip to Macau. This time, I made the move by bringing my parents around on foot (without travel agents of course!), visited quite a number of places and more importantly, ate a lot of food. I shifted a lot of things which were initially planned as part of our itinerary due to insufficient time (aka shopping overload) and also to accommodate my parents as they were quite tired from excessive walking.

Here’s the summary of the things we did. Contents and links will be added later.

Hotel (HK): Stanford Hotel (118, Soy Street, Mongkok)
Hotel (Macau): Metropark Hotel (Rua de Pequim, Macau)

Day 1: Ocean Empire, Ladies Market @ Tung Choi Street

Day 2: Australia Dairy Co @ Parkes Street, Ocean Park, Kam Wah Cafe @ Bute Street

Day 3: Law Fu Kee @ Des Voeux Road, The Peak, Tsui Wah Restaurant @ The Peak Galleria, Star Ferry from Central to Tsim Sha Tsui, Chee Kei @ Lock Road

Day 4: Ocean Empire again, Ngong Ping 360, Tian Tan Buddha, Citygates Mall, Dai Pai Tong beside Stanford Hotel

Day 5: Kam Wah Cafe again, Rua do Cunha (Gelatina Mok Yi Kei, Pastelaria Fong Kei), Venetian Macau, Grand Lisboa Casino

Day 6: Wong Chi Kei @ Senado Square, Ruins of St. Paul, Yung Kee @ Central

Day 7: Tim Ho Wan Dim Sum

Stay tuned for detailed updates!

Foon Lock Restaurant @ Kg Bukit Tinggi, Bentong, Pahang

Sep 7, 10 at 12:22 am

Phew, I admit I really neglected this blog for a very long time. I’d like to blame it on my recent business travels but then it’s really a bad excuse for myself. Anyway, I’m back for good now.. well sort of with a couple of dizziness which I’m still suffering and hope it’ll go off very soon.

I’m going to write about this particular restaurant which I went as far as 3 months’ back. I don’t know why, but this small, quaint village of Bukit Tinggi has become my favourite place for stopover whenever I’m traveling to the east coast or even the notorious gambling haven.

So we were at Foon Lock the other day for dinner and it was packed to the max. The boss was ever in his usual jovial, friendly mood and even recommended some of the specialties to us which we gleefully accepted – probably we were too tired to even think what we want to eat.

We kind of fell in love with this simple, stuffed tofu. The minced meat was marinated and mixed with chopped spring onion before being stuffed into the tofu skin. It was really good.

Awesome Homemade Ice-Cream @ Kedai Kopi Kow Po, Bentong

Jul 12, 10 at 12:15 am

While making our way back from Taman Negara, I actually drove to Bentong for its famous homemade ice-cream shop, Kow Po. I have heard of this for so long but never had chance to try it so when opportunity came knocking, there’s no second thought.

Now, the funny thing is, I was with my 4 other friends, none of them actually knew about this.

Driving in Bentong town is not that hard. Assisted by my trusty GPS-enabled phone and also the locality of the shop which is just beside the main road, we made it at first attempt. :/

Sunshine Bay Seafood Restaurant, Tanjung Bungah

Jun 26, 10 at 9:57 pm

During my short stay in Penang, I managed to visit Sunshine Bay Seafood Restaurant located at Tanjung Bungah thanks to one of our friend’s tips. For me, it is quite hard to describe the proper direction to the place but you can always check this site for a more comprehensive and detailed write-ups.

We reached the place at around 7.30pm on a beautiful Saturday evening and it was packed to the max. We managed to secure a table for seven of us and the lady boss recommended some of the dishes for us.

We waited quite a while, probably 20 minutes or so but that’s okay with us because of the overwhelming crowd that day.

Durian Fest at Balik Pulau, Penang

Jun 23, 10 at 12:58 am

I was in Penang for a short getaway last weekend for some good food and good company. One of the highlights from the trip was the durian excursion at Balik Pulau. In fact, if you have not heard about it, this is the place where you can get relatively good durian. Well, I shall leave the fact findings to my friends who hail from Penang as I’m going to talk about the ongoing Durian Fest happening right now at Balik Pulau.
