One of the highlights of the trip was the visit to “dai pai dong” 大排檔, HK’s heritage as proclaimed by the locals. Given the fast paced development in the land scarce HK, this culture is fast diminishing. Most of the “dai pai dong” that used to operate by the road side are centralized and moved to much cleaner food markets.

There are many food markets in HK, to be able to find good food in these food markets is another seemingly impossible task for us visitors unless you have done extensive homework. Having previously visited food market in Mongkok for delicious congee, we targeted another food market which is located in North Point.

Having enjoyed the day in Sai Kung, we reluctantly left the place by bus to the nearest MTR station that took us to North Point. We settled at a stall called Tung Po 東寶小館, and seeing that we were still full, we just ordered three dishes, which happen to be Tung Po’s signature dishes as well.

The first, wind sand chicken 風沙雞. Crispy on the outer and tender inside, this was one the best roasted chicken we ate in a long time.
